2018 Chrysler Pacifica Preview

It's unusual for a year one model of a car to get an update. However, that is what is possibly happening with the Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler launched late last year a new 2017 model minivan - the Pacifica. In spite of the successful launch, it didn't take time for rumors to start flowing around about a new version.

Despite being just rumors there is some truth to them according to some insiders. It is said that the price will not change much, but higher end models will do much better with greater features inside the cabin. Let's take a look at what may be coming in the updated 2018 model of the Chrysler Pacifica that will be available for sale in Kansas City, MO.

Changes in the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

The older Town and County was an imperfect minivan. In 2016, the Pacifica Chrysler was introduced as a complete reworking of the old Town and County. New futuristic exteriors and modern interiors were introduced to make it feel sleeker. All these changes brought about an enormous increase in sales, despite a late release in showrooms. About 65,000 units were sold in the first year.

In order to get better than its competitors, the new 2018 update will come with very interesting new changes. One way of doing this is to make the minivan more lustrous. The most glaring changes will be seen in the interiors as well as the inserts of the minivan. The 2018 Pacifica will be in high likelihood be the same as before, the powertrain will most likely be the same as the current versions available.

Design and Interior

The Pacifica has borrowed plenty of its traits from the 200 even though its production ceased. The minivan's grills, headlights, bumper are almost like for like with the 200.

The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica might also get a subtle high-end trim level. This mainly due to the fact that it has lots of chrome while some people prefer something simpler. With the introduction of new audacious color schemes, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica may be the classiest minivan around. This could mean blacked out fog lights surround, blacked out headlights, darker wheels, in addition, to blacked out details on the outside. There are even rumors that the premium and platinum trim levels will have full LED headlights and tail lights.

To get an advantage over their rivals, Chrysler may update the infotainment system, the new one utilizing the same software as before though on better hardware. One of the biggest handicaps of the current model for some select buyers is the seats. Apart from the hybrid and limited models, all the other minivans have only black or white as the color of their seats. Black leather seats can absorb heat on hot days while white leather seats are a problem when you have kids around. Changes in the color of their leather seats could be a huge game-changer for the Chrysler 2018 Pacifica.

Engine

There will minimal change in terms of engines in the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica compared to its predecessor. The engine will be a 3.6L v6 with 262 lb-ft of torque and 287 horsepower. In spite of the same old 9-speed automatic transmission, there may be a software upgrade which will make driving the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica much better and more fun.

Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

One of the biggest assets of the Chrysler Pacifica is their hybrid version. This is because it's the only hybrid minivan around and there doesn't seem to be any competition coming their way anytime soon. The hybrid will use a similar V6 3.6-liter engine but will be running on an Atkinson cycle. 33 miles on a single charge will be easily achieved considering the huge 16 kwh battery-back and 2 great electric motors. On top of that when running on gasoline, it will easily return over an average of 32 MPG, which for a combined output of 260 horsepower, is rather impressive. The only downside is the higher price of the hybrid compared to the regular 3.6 model, but this can be quickly returned to the buyer at the gas pumps.

Release Date

Based on information around the internet, in September this year the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica will be in showrooms. For a model that has been largely unchanged from the past, this is usually the norm. Chrysler, however, is keeping their cards close to their chests and hasn't disclosed anything about the release date. In order for Chrysler to get an advantage over their rivals Chrysler will ensure the small changes we talked about are made and if greater and better changes are to be made postponing the release will be imminent. We are anticipating there will be two release dates, one in September for a little-changed minivan and maybe another in early 2018 for an upgraded version.

The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica will be available for sale at State Line Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Kansas City, MO, near the communities of Overland Park, KS; Merriam, KS; Shawnee, KS; andLenexa, KS.
